David K. Udall, an Arizona native, founded the Udall Shumway firm in 1965 in partnership with Dale R. Shumway. His previous experience consisted of work at a large Phoenix firm and as Mesa's first full-time deputy county attorney. Mr. Udall has a long history of community involvement including eight years as a Mesa City Councilman as well as founder and second president of the East Valley Partnership. He has successfully represented a variety of clients with zoning and development issues before the City of Mesa, Maricopa County, Town of Gilbert, City of Chandler, and Casa Grande. His approach is to quietly and effectively work with elected officials and municipal staffs to get the job done.

Mr. Udall completed his undergraduate studies with a degree from Eastern Arizona College in 1956 and a degree in political science and history from Brigham Young University in 1960. He returned to Arizona to complete his studies at the University of Arizona receiving a Juris Doctor degree in 1963. He was a member of the Arizona Law Review.

Mr. Udall lived in Montevideo, Uruguay for two and a half years and in Buenos Aires, Argentina for three and greatly enjoys representing Spanish-speaking clients. Spanish-speaking referrals are both encouraged and appreciated.

He was given an "AV" rating by the national attorney rating service Martindale Hubbell. This rating is based upon lawyer peer review and is the highest rating for legal ability and ethics, a rating that is given to only approximately the top 5% of lawyers nationwide.

Mr. Udall is licensed to practice in all Arizona courts as well as the U.S. District Court in Arizona and the Supreme Court of the United States. His is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Arizona Trial Lawyers Association. His is a past drive chairman of Mesa United Way and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Mesa Chamber of Commerce.
