Three Udall Shumway Attorneys Named to 2013 Southwest SuperLawyers

School Law Attorney Denise Lowell-Britt on Faculty for Upcoming NAU/AZ Trust Spring 2013 Leadership Academy

School Law attorney Denise Lowell-Britt will be serving on the faculty of the upcoming NAU/AZ Trust Spring 2013 Leadership Academy.

This academy is a unique interactive law conference especially designed for Superintendents, Administrative Personnel, Principals, HR Directors, Business Managers, PR Personnel, Special Education Directors and Coordinators, Athletic Directors, and Transportation Directors with curriculum designed to address current legal risk through problem solving.

The academy will take place from March 5th to 7th at the Gold Canyon Golf Resort in Gold Canyon, Arizona.

School Law Attorney Candyce Pardee to Present at 2013 Arizona State Bar Convention

School Law attorney Candyce Pardee will be part of a panel presenting at the 2013 Arizona State Bar Convention to be held June 19 – 21  at the Arizona Biltmore Resort.

The break-out session, “Mentoring Secrets Revealed” will take place on June 20, 2013 from 2:00 to 3:30 pm.  Additional panelists include the newest justice on the Arizona Supreme Court, Hon. Ann A. Scott Timmer; Amy Gibbons, President and Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Metropolitan Phoenix; and Dean Pickett, General Counsel to Tempe Union High School District.  Three additional panelists will be named soon.

The Association of Legal Administrators (“ALA”) Names Two Udall Shumway Staff to 2013 Positions

Udall Shumway PLC is excited to have two members of their administrative staff named to 2013 positions with the Association of Legal Administrators (“ALA”).  Firm Administrator, Katie Bryant, CLM, has been selected to a two-year term as a Region 6 Officer and Marketing Coordinator, Pam Molnar, CLM, has been selected to serve on the 2014 Annual Conference Planning Committee.  Congratulations ladies!

Family Law Attorney Lindsay Olivarez to Coach Mock Trial Team

Family Law associate Lindsay Olivarez has been selected as the East Squad Attorney Coach for the 2012-2013 Xavier College Preparatory Mock Trial Team. The Mock Trial program at Xavier has four squads competing at the Arizona Regional Tournament. Squads from Xavier have historically competed at the State and National levels. The mock trials simulate real court trials with students presenting full criminal or civil trials, typically to actual seated volunteer Judges.  The students take on roles such as lawyers, defendants and witnesses and utilize much the same rules of evidence and procedure as real Superior Court civil and criminal trials, allowing students to understand and experience what a real court trial is like. The East Squad will compete at the Regional Tournament at the Maricopa County Superior Court on March 2, 2013. The State Tournament will be held on March 23, 2013, at the Sandra Day O’Connor U.S. Courthouse building.

Divorce & Family Law Attorney Steven Everts to present at 2013 Arizona Family Law Institute

Family Law attorney Steven Everts has been invited to present at the Arizona Family Law Institute (For Better or For Worse) for the sixth consecutive year.  The event, co-sponsored by the State Bar of Arizona and the Arizona Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), will take place on January 10, 2013.

Legal Assistant Linda Jones Publishes “Alphabet Anatomy: Meet the Capital Letters”

Linda Jones, a legal assistant in Udall Shumway’s School Law group, has published a childrens book designed to introduce youngsters to letters in a fun and unique way.  “Alphabet Anatomy: Meet the Capital Letters” uses rhymes and illustrations to teach each letter’s sound, shape, and how to write the letter, thus its anatomy.  True to its motto, “the art of learning the letters and their lives,” Alphabet Anatomy explores “what the letters do behind the scenes when they’re not busy making words.”  Linda plans to follow up with a companion book on lower-case letters in 2013.
