Sheri D. Shepard
Sheri D. Shepard is an equity partner with Udall Shumway, PLC. Ms. Shepard solely practices in family law representing individuals in all areas of family law including but not limited to, divorce, paternity, child custody matters, grandparent visitation, child support, enforcement, modifications. By solely practicing in family law, Ms. Shepard can ensure that she continues to have the most up to date information regarding any changes and trends in the law and court system regarding families. Ms. Shepard is also a member of the Maricopa County Bar Association and on the Fee Arbitration Committee with the State Bar of Arizona. She has also been appointed as a Judge Pro Tem for the family court for the last few years.
Heather R. Pierson
Heather R. Pierson joined Udall Shumway PLC in 2009. She is a member of the School Law section, representing the firm’s education law clients throughout the State. Ms. Pierson is uniquely qualified in the area of special education law. Prior to joining Udall Shumway, Ms. Pierson taught behavior disordered students. During her teaching career, Ms. Pierson was involved in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (“IEP”) and behavior plans and attended several trainings on special education and regular education interventions and strategies. While in law school, Ms. Pierson provided in-home ABA services for autistic children under the age of three and participated in the Whittier Law School Special Education Clinic, which provided special education advocacy services for children with developmental disabilities. Additionally, Ms. Pierson earned her Master’s Degree in Special Education in 2004. Ms. Pierson routinely defends school districts and other public educational institutions in matters related to disability law matters, such as special education due process hearings, Office of Civil Rights (“OCR”) complaints, Section 504 due process hearings, mediation, and special education state complaints. She provides daily advice and assistance in matters related to special education, Section 504, the Americans with Disabilities Act, student discipline, personnel issues and student records.
Jonathan D. Brooks
Jonathan D. Brooks joined Udall Shumway PLC in 2016. He focuses his practice on representing individuals in the diverse area of family law, handling a variety of matters including dissolution, paternity, child support, spousal maintenance, relocation, premarital agreements, and adoption. Mr. Brooks is an experienced litigator, representing clients throughout all stages of the family court process, including appeals. He was selected by Super Lawyers® as a Rising Star in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019, a recognition received by no more than 2.5 percent of Arizona lawyers.
Jessica Sanchez is a partner with Udall Shumway PLC. Ms. Sanchez focuses her practice primarily in the area of education law, representing school districts and charter schools throughout the State. In addition to her time at Udall Shumway PLC, Ms. Sanchez has also served as in-house legal counsel for the Scottsdale Unified School District and the General Counsel for the three Tempe School Districts (Tempe Union High School District, Tempe Elementary School District and Kyrene Elementary School District). Ms. Sanchez currently serves as an executive officer for the State Bar of Arizona.
Joel Sannes joined Udall Shumway PLC in 2015. Mr. Sannes focuses his practice in the area of commercial litigation and bankruptcy. He has represented clients in almost every sector of Arizona’s economy in his 20 years as an Arizona lawyer. Much of his litigation work is in construction, representing developers, owners, contractors and subcontractors in mechanics’ lien, payment bond and performance bond disputes, disputes over timeliness, quality code compliance, and compliance with plans. Mr. Sannes has also represented buyers, sellers, and lenders in residential and commercial real estate transactions and disputes.
