Attorney Erin Walz, Partner and member of Udall Shumway PLC Education Law Section, has been appointed as the Vice Chairperson of the Fee Arbitration Committee of the State Bar of Arizona. Her term begins on June 16, 2014. The function of the Fee Arbitration Committee is to pose as a neutral third party, assisting attorneys and clients in the resolution of disputes regarding fees over $500.00. The Fee Arbitration Committee consists of more than 60 State Bar members; members work independently on the fee disputes assigned to them. Arbitrators issue awards as to the fee disputes following arbitration hearings, and based on findings and conclusions. The decisions of the fee arbitrators are final and binding, subject to only limited appeal through the Superior Court.
